Foreword

Dear Sir / Madam,

DurbarSquare Nepal 2007 Charity Project is an initiative aimed at improving the quality of childhood of Nepalese children living in the Kalika village community.

Action is being organized and co-ordinated by the group of doctors, medical students and other members of the Child and the Environment Organization.

The idea was born during my visit in Nepal in 2004. At that time I was still a medical student. Combining trekking with my professional training I was able to visit remote Nepalese villages and bring a priceless yet very limited amount of medical help to children I met on my way.

Within just two weeks of hiking I had used almost all of my medical supplies, mostly treating minor illnesses, wounds and burns. It was then when I realised how much needed is this sort of aid.

Mr. Narendra Shahi who was my guide helped to open my eyes to what seems to be trivial matters in our society. Working very hard and earning painfully little he won my attention by asking for help - a help not for personal gain but for children in his village. He asked for simple things that could bring more smile to kids’ faces.

I warmly invite you to participate in the DurbarSquare Charity Project
